Nothing in life is truly free. Someone pays the price
somewhere along the way. When companies give out freebies, sure it's free to
you, but they had to pay to have it made or produced, a price was paid at some
point for that item. Same with our country. America is often referred to as the
land of the free. Well, that freedom was certainly not free. We are free
because of the brave soldiers throughout our history who have fought hard for
our freedom, many of whom paid the ultimate price by losing their lives for our
freedom. Memorial day is a time to remember those who died for our freedom! The
best way we can honor their service and sacrifice is to uphold the values and principles
of Christ. Our nation, although has now strayed from it, was founded on
biblical truths, fighting for our freedom was also fighting for our right to
serve and follow God. Let us, this weekend and always, honor the lives given by
giving thanks to God for them and worshiping Christ who gave us the perfect
example of freedom and sacrifice.
"There is no greater love than to lay
down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:13
