When I was I high school my keyboarding teacher had a poster in her classroom that read,

"What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular".

That poster has been one of the most useful things I learned in that class. Sometimes it's really hard to do what is right, it could make someone mad at you or someone not like you. If you've prayed about it, and you know in your heart that you are doing the right thing, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks about you, you have done the will of God and it only matters what he thinks of you. Once it's done, you can have peace of mind that God will work out all the details.

"“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:10-12
